Two Ships Collide 30km From the Belgian Coast

Two tankers collided Wednesday morning some 30 kilometers from the Belgian coast, said the Coordinating Centre and maritime rescue. It is a question of material damage but no injuries. The circumstances of the accident are still unclear. One of the ships was empty and fastened to an anchor when the other hit him. This second vessel was carrying a cargo, which is still unknown content.

One of two oil tankers flying the flag of Liberia, while the other belongs to the fleet of the Marshall Islands.

"There are no injuries. We only talk about damage. But there is no flow or immediate risk of sinking," says Rejane Gyssens Coordinating Maritime Rescue Center.

The extent of damage has yet to be assessed before deciding whether the ships are still able to reach their respective destinations.
